A Love Complete

This is His everlasting love story. Written to me and to you.

2 Chronicles 6:18

But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain You. How much less this temple I have built? (Selah… think on this).

Tonight I have been thinking about this beautiful verse I ran across earlier today. The thought that the Spirit of God that resides in me and in you—this God that cannot be contained in any capacity and whose mind cannot by explained by human wisdom—this God whose love is so immense in it’s enormity for each of His children that even all the oceans of the world cannot begin to contain it. How incredibly awesome is He?

Isaiah 54: 5, 7-8

For your Maker is your husband-the Lord Almighty is His name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth . . . For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment. But with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.

These verses are referring to the Lord with the hearts of His children in the Old Testament. Times where they forsook God and sought after things that grieved His heart. But isn’t it beautiful His response time and again when He told them that He was their husband? Their God who remembered their cry for help! How much is He like that with us! When we chase after other things of this world, when we don’t put Him first and instead worship others or money or success or fame. But what is His response to us? Scripture says His anger lasts only a moment but His love a lifetime. He will never ever stop loving you. Or wanting to be with you.

Psalm 139 has got to be one of the best Psalms of all time. Here is a short excerpt.

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

A God who so intricately put me together in my mother’s womb, a God that resides in me and whose presence will never leave me is the same God who hems me in behind and before. This same God cannot be contained in the highest of heavens or kept in the depths of the earth. A God who lives and loves each of His children so intricately and totally with a love that the oceans cannot contain. This is the God I get to serve!

How could the same God who loves me totally, intimately, and with reckless abandon love you too you ask? I am glad you asked. He does! He loves you so much more than anyone else ever could. More than the sun and the stars that He taught how to shine. Multiply that love by a trillion times. This is the kind of love my tiny mind cannot comprehend! A God so immense and complete in His love for me that it doesn’t matter where I go or what I am doing. He is always there for me to help me and be there for me in a way that only a God who is complete and constant in His faithfulness toward those He loves can be.

  1. Even when we can’t “feel” Him … when we “feel” alone He is there. As I read your blog I was reminded of the various ways God reveals Himself. With Elijah it was not the wind, earthquake nor the fire 1Kings 19:11 rather the still small voice. One that oftentimes we must be still silent contemplative to know (to be reminded) that He is Yahweh, Jehovah Jireh,

    • Oh! The ways God reveals Himself. Through nature, through others, through His own presence. I could go on and on. What a powerful, loving, mighty, and just God we serve! Full of mercy and splendor!

I couldn’t run from His love- hard as I tried, He made crooked paths straight…leading directly into His arms!
